Real Salt Lake Vs. Sounders Seattle, MLS Cup Playoffs 2011: Game Underway

We're underway at the Rio Tinto Stadium, where the Seattle Sounders are trying to get their first playoff win at the third time of asking. Alvaro Fernandez is the first Sounder to see any action, stealing the ball off Andy Williams only to run out of play down the left touchline and give the ball straight back. Real Salt Lake are the ones with the bulk of the possession so far early - the next time the visitors retrieve the ball, they kick it a full seventy yards out of play for no apparent reason, giving Nick Rimando a goal kick.

They're more sucessful in their next foray forward. A booming long pass floats over the top of the defence to find Fredy Montero, but he has to control an awkward hop and Jamison Olave has time to clear for a corner, which is also cleared. So, we've probably already seen the basic pattern of the game - RSL with the ball, Seattle hitting back with a dangerous counterattack. Both teams look up for it, so this should be a good match.
