LA Galaxy Re-Sign Sean Franklin, Agree To Terms With 4 Others

The LA Galaxy continued their flurry of signings on Friday, signing five players to new deals. The most significant of those signings was undoubtedly Sean Franklin, probably the best right back in Major League Soccer.

Franklin, who won the MLS Rookie of the Year award in 2008, was coming off his best season to date. He made 27 starts, including all four of the Galaxy's playoff games, and showed a newfound offensive ability. Franklin scored four goals and had three assists, all of which came during a seven-game span over the summer. For his efforts, he was named a MLS All-Star.

The other four signees are more likely to be role players. Adam Cristman and Bryan Jordan were both retained from last year's team, while Pat Noonan was acquired in the Re-Entry Draft and goalkeeper Nick Noble comes to MLS after spending the last two seasons in the Swedish second division with Ljungskile SK, where he made 59 appearances. Noble was originally drafted by the Galaxy in 2007.
