Regarding MLS' Steve Zakuani Broken Leg 'Highlight'

New, comments

As most of you will have heard by now, Seattle Sounders winger Steve Zakuani suffered what appeared to be a badly broken leg after a very late challenge by Colorado's Brian Mullan during today's match between the Sounders and Rapids in Denver. It was clear from the very beginning that this injury was very serious and potentially career-threatening, and his injury has now been confirmed as a break of the tibia and fibula. Zakuani will have surgery tonight.

Which is why, of course, MLS decided to post the incident as a video highlight immediately on their website.

Call me crazy or weak-stomached - and I know some people are looking for video footage - but to me personally showing an injury like that is reprehensible. I've seen my fair share of broken legs watching football, and those are images that I wish I could un-see, but more than that it makes me ill on Zakuani's behalf. There's no need to be showing a man suffering a horrendous injury and clearly in agony. It sucks that this happened, and milking it as a 'highlight' makes it even worse.
