According to multiple reports, including this one from The Guardian, a supporter has died after sustaining injuries outside of Wembley Stadium, prior to the Euro 2012 qualifying match between England and Wales. Police are launching a murder investigation and have six men in custody.
The supporter, whose name was not released, was said to be a Wales supporter. EMS were called to the concourse outside of the stadium at 7:20 pm BST and the man died at the hospital shortly after 9 pm. Cause of death was head injuries, and the victim was believed to be in his 40s.
Reports indicate that all six men in custody are Welsh, and therefore, this was not necessarily an incident that stemmed from opposing supporters clashing. Still, whatever happened, it's horrible that an incident like this had to happen. Little more information is available presently, but more information will likely become available later Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning.
