Rafael van der Vaart scissors his way to glory

Rafael van der Vaart, still good.

Alex Grimm

Rafael van der Vaart went from Real Madrid to the Champions League with Tottenham Hotspur to Hamburg, so maybe he doesn't have the same spotlight that he used to, but he still has the skill that landed him at the Bernabeu and European football's biggest stage. That same scissor-kicking, jaw dropping skill.

Here are a few relevant notes about that goal:

1. van der Vaart was completely and totally unmarked.

2. Hamburg won 5-0 so this goal was not important in any way whatsoever.

3. Nurnberg do much in the way of defending all match.

4. It was still awesome.
