Bayern Munich vs. Manchester City: Preview and TV schedule

New, comments

Bayern Munich and Manchester City have already guaranteed themselves a place in the Champions League knockout stages, but will vie for top spot in Group D on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City have comfortably guaranteed their progression into the knockout stages of the Champions League, though their clash on Tuesday will sort out which of the two teams will go through as group winners. After they won the reverse fixture in Manchester, the early advantage is with the Bavarians.

Bayern are currently three points ahead of City in the group, and thus they only need a point to guarantee they progress in first place. Even a defeat would be good enough for them to take the group, as long as they don't lose by three goals or concede more than one away goal. Basically, they aren't likely to relinquish top spot.

However, Pep Guardiola will be unable to select five injured players, with the most notable being Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Xherdan Shaqiri. For City, Stevan Jovetić, Matija Nastasić and Yaya Touré will miss out, while David Silva is in doubt after his calf injury layoff -- though he has been included in Manuel Pellegrini's squad.

Bayern Munich injuries and suspensions

Out: Arjen Robben (knee), Holger Badstuber (knee), Bastian Schweinsteiger (ankle), Claudio Pizarro (thigh), Xherdan Shaqiri (hamstring). In doubt: None.

Manchester City injuries and suspensions

Out: Stevan Jovetić (calf), Matija Nastasić (calf), Yaya Touré (suspended). In doubt: David Silva (calf).
