After their cagey draw against Arsenal on Monday night, Chelsea are down in fourth place, just a couple of points adrift of the top of the Premier League table. They welcome Swansea City to Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day, looking to extend their unbeaten home run. Having won seven of their opening eight games in front of their own fans, they're strong favourites to pick up a win.
They face a Swansea side which has struggled for consistency so far this season, having now not won in their last three league games. They've had to juggle domestic football with the Europa League, and are currently down in an unspectacular 12th place. That combined with a string of unfortunate injuries to important players, it's hard to see them picking up a result on Thursday.
Chelsea's only early absentees are Marco van Ginkel and Ryan Bertrand, though Swansea have a string of first-teamers unavailable. Michu and Álvaro Vázquez's injuries have left them short in attack, while backup goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel will be called into action in the absence of Michel Vorm. Nathan Dyer and Gary Monk are both also unavailable.
