Bayern Munich have confirmed they have agreed terms with Mario Götze, setting the stage for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder to join the club on July 1. It appears as though Bayern tried their best to avoid breaking the news prior to Dortmund's Champions League match against Real Madrid on Wednesday, but with Bild getting wind of the information, went ahead and confirmed the story.

Götze, just twenty years old, came up through the ranks at Dortmund, a successful product of the club's youth academy who found his spot with the first team in 2009. He received his first senior cap for Germany in 2010 and was part of his country's Euro 2012 side. Götzehas 10 goals and 8 assists in the league this season, scored a hat-trick in the Cup and put one past Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. Now that he's set for Bayern, maybe someone needs to create a Götze button to go alongside the Mario Gomez one?

While no official representative of Bayern has contacted Dortmund about Götze's transfer, the club confirmed his release clause has been triggered. They also confirmed the fee of €37m , making him the most expensive German player of all time. So even if this dampens Dortmund's spirits a bit ahead of their Champions League quarter-final, at least they can console themselves by counting their stacks of money.
