Update: Bayern Munich 4-0 Barcelona, final score - Match report.

On Monday, Mark Van Bommel said Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona should have been the UEFA Champions League final, not semifinal. While he's almost certainly a very opinionated man on matters pertaining to the two clubs, it'll be difficult to find someone not supporting one of the other two semifinalists who disagrees with them. Barcelona have been the most successful team of the last five years without question, but Bayern are creeping up on them.

The first leg of the tie is in Munich, and with Barcelona's recent performances in the first legs of their knockout stage ties, Bayern will be confident that they can open up a lead on Tuesday night. The Blaugrana lost 2-0 to AC Milan at the San Siro in the round of 16, then gave up a late equalizer away to PSG in the quarterfinals. It hasn't stopped them from getting here, but one has to believe that Bayern won't give up a lead quite as easily as Barcelona's last two opponents.
