Update: Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Real Madrid, final score - Match report.
Borussia Dormtund couldn't have asked for a better start as Mario Götze connected with Robert Lewandowski in the 9th minute to give the home side an early lead.
Real Madrid had possession from the kick-off but once Dortmund got a hold on the ball, they didn't let it go much in the opening minutes. Both teams seems fine with playing a high tempo early and Dortmund were on the attack early with Robert Lewandowski dropping deep often to try and get involved.
Dortmund got the game's first great chance in the 7th minute after a tremendous tackle by Sven Bender sprung Marco Reus on the counter attack through the middle. His run was stellar, going right around Raphael Varane and sending a shot in that Diego Lopez could only parry to the left. Lewandowski just missed getting on the rebound but he would not miss minutes later.
Ilkay Gündogan found Mario Götze wide on the left in the 9th minute. Götze made a quick cut back and found Lewandowski at the far post for a sliding redirect past Lopez. Lewandowski had blown by Pepe in the Madrid box and there was nothing Lopez could do to stop the early goal.
What a start for the Germans.
