Good news for Borussia Dortmund fans as central defender Mats Hummels has overcome the ankle injury he suffered in their final Bundesliga match. Hummels discussed the injury in yesterday's press conference and decalred himself fit and ready to go for today's final.
"Yes, [I'm fit]," said Hummels at Friday's press conference. "Fortunately the scare was a lot worse than the actual problem. My foot isn't quite as it was but it's in order for a match and I hope I'll be able to get through the last job of the season. On Sunday I realised it wasn't as bad as I thought and when I realised I was going to be fit, I was so, so happy."
Hummels' availability is a huge boost for Dortmund who will need their German international defender alongside Neven Subotic to help deal with Bayern Munich's dangerous attack. Felipe Santana will be available off the bench if Hummels isn't able to go the full 90 minutes. There's not too much of a dropoff from Hummels to Santana, but Dortmund can't really afford any dropoff in any spot against Bayern.
