Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund: Ilkay Gündogan penalty evens the match at 1-1

Update: Bayern Munich win 2-1 to capture Champions League title

Just when it looked like Bayern Munich had everything in control, Dortmund stormed back, earning a penalty and evening the match at 1-1 thanks to a smooth finish by Ilkay Gündogan.

Dortmund were again close in the 66th minute after hitting Bayern on the counter-attack, but a determined Franck Ribery did a tremendous job backtracking to cut off Lukasz Piszczek.

A minute later, Dortmund were given a lifeline after Dante kicked Marco Reus across the knee in the area, and the referee wasted no time pointing to the spot and awarding BVB a penalty. It was an extremely clumsy challenge and there was no doubt on the call.

Surprisingly, it wasn't Robert Lewandowski who stepped up to take the penalty — it was Ilkay Gündogan. He wasted little time, calmly approaching the ball and sending Manuel Neuer the wrong direction to even the match at 1-1.

Game on at Wembley.
