Juventus claim 2012-2013 scudetto

On Sunday afternoon, Juventus beat Palermo 1-0 to claim the 2012-2013 Serie A title. In a fitting close to the title race, the Old Lady sewed up the points with a penalty converted by Arturo Vidal.

With their win over Palermo on Sunday, Italian giants Juventus have claimed the 2012-2013 scudetto -- and it happened again on 5 maggio, that famous day when, 11 years ago, Juve beat Udinese, Inter Milan lost to Lazio, and the bianconeri lifted the title.

Depending on your version of history, today's scudetto is either their 29 or 31 titles, as the FIGC stripped the Old Lady of two titles in the aftermath of the calciopoli scandal. Either way, Juve will be celebrating with a massive victory parade through the streets of Turin tonight.

The three points are down to a second half penalty conversion by Arturo Vidal, the Chilean's fifth in five matches. However, a draw would have sufficed, as even if Napoli win later against Inter Milan, the second-placed side won't be able to close the gap. Really, the title race was decided back in October, when Napoli and Juve met for the first time, and the Old Lady walked away with all three points.

With three games left to play, the bianconeri sit on 69 points, with 26 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses. While last season Juventus could boast of their unbeaten record, this year they're likely to be even prouder, after facing few challenges in the league while advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Congrats, Juventus. You certainly made it look easy.
