Calcio rumors: blink, and you might miss them. Here's a quick run down of some of the hottest rumors in Serie A:

Fiorentina, among unrealistic stories involving purchasing Mario Gomez, David Villa, and other high-profile names, actually seem serious about signing Josip Ilicic from Palermo. Securing the forward's services might mean negotiations over the renewal of Adem Ljajic's contract have stalled, and the attacker will be sold. According to some reports, the Viola are also interesting in snagging another Palermo player, goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino. Finally, to compensate for the possible departure of Stevan Jovetic, it seems Fiorentina are looking at ex-Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios, a free agent who played for Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande last season.

Genoa already secured the services of midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis last week, but now they're attempting an even more masterful move, trying to land Colombian wunderkid Juan Quintero. Pescara's director of football, Giorgio Repetto, confirmed that a deal for the midfielder is close. Add to that a rumored (though less likely) comeback of Miguel Veloso from Dinamo Kiev and Genoa's strong midfield just might see them fighting for a Europa League position next season.

Serie A's newcomers are also trying to strengthen and expand their squads. Newly promoted Livorno are looking to bring in Inter Milan's young goalkeeper Francesco Bardi, Napoli's talented midfielder Omar El Kaddouri and Juventus forward Stefano Beltrame.

Another newcomer, Hellas Verona, have already signed midfielder Massimo Donati, and interested in in a trio of Fiorentina players: Neto, Romulo and legendary bomber Luca Toni. Local rivals Chievo Verona are looking at two Viola youngsters - goalkeeper Andrea Seculin and forward Maxwell Boadu Acosty, both who spent last season on loan at Serie B side Juve Stabia.
