Stuttgart have revealed that coach Bruno Labbadia has left with immediate effect, after a poor start to the Bundesliga season. Labbadia had been at the Mercedes-Benz Arena since 2010, leading Stuttgart to a highest league finish of sixth in 2011-12.
After a busy transfer window which has seen eight players arrive to add depth to a thin squad, Stuttgart were hoping for an improvement on their disappointing 12th-place finish from last season. It equalled their lowest finish in over a decade, with a team expected to be competing near the top instead floating in mid-table.
However, Die Roten haven't shown any signs of improvement so far, having lost their opening three Bundesliga games against Mainz, Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg. They also have to come from behind in a second leg against Croatian club Rijeka if they are to reach the Europa League group stages, after a surprise 2-1 defeat away from home.
Stuttgart will reveal more information at a press conference at 3 p.m. local, 9 a.m. ET.
