Even before the MLS SuperDraft got going, there were three trades in the days leading up to it. The LA Galaxy traded out of the first round, sending the No. 14 pick to the Columbus Crew. The Seattle Sounders also moved up to No. 8, sending the No. 13 pick to the Chicago Fire. The Crew also gave up the No. 4 pick in the draft to the New England Revolution in exchange for the Michael Parkhurst's MLS rights.
Must Reads
The teams that deserve particular attention are the Philadelphia Union and Revolution, each of whom now have four picks in the first two rounds of the draft. The Union should be in the market for some center backs, while the Revolution could really use a few forwards.
Most draft experts seem to agree that, like most drafts, this one's talent will drop off considerably after the first 10 or so picks. The one position that seems reasonably deep is at center back, where as many as eight projected to go in the first round.
In all, there are 267 players being made eligible, representing schools from all around the country and countries from all over the world.
