La Liga schedule and preview, Week 10: An honest-to-goodness title race

It may not last the entire season but for the moment, we've got a genuinely interested title race going in La Liga.

Manuel Queimadelos Alonso

Thanks to the results in Week 9, the title race in La Liga has tightened up considerably with five teams within two points of each other at the top.

Barcelona remains in first place despite their 3-1 loss against Real Madrid, but they're not alone at 22 points anymore with Sevilla having caught up with them. Los Blancos are just a point behind now at 21, while Valencia and Atlético Madrid are close as well with 20 points apiece. While it's debatable whether Sevilla and Los Che can keep up their early-season pace, it's certainly interesting that we'll enter November with a fairly wide open title race going.

Both Sevilla and Valencia face tough road test this week as the Rojiblancos will play at Athletic Club, while Los Che is on the road against Villarreal. Real Madrid is on the road as well against 14th-placed Granada, while Barca is hosting Celta Vigo.

Depor and Getafe will celebrate Halloween in the league's lone Friday match.
