Landon Donovan may not get quite the fairytale ending so many want, but it won't be because he's not doing his part. The all-time leading scorer in Major League Soccer added three more goals to his tally, logging a hat trick in the LA Galaxy's 5-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday. The win puts the Galaxy through to the Western Conference finals.
All three of his goals were vintage Donovan.
On the first, Donovan snuck in behind the RSL defense to head in a well-placed cross.
On the second, Donovan used his speed to run past several RSL defenders and take a perfectly weighted through ball from Robbie Keane. Donovan was able to round goalkeeper Nick Rimando and easily finish his shot.
On the third, Donovan made another late run to get behind the defense and then struck a volley off a wonderful pass from Keane.
Just for good measure, Donovan also picked up an assist, setting up Keane's goal that gave the Galaxy a 2-0 lead.
