Official: Nemanja Vidić will be an Inter player next season

Next season will mark a fresh start for the Serbian centerback, who will move from Manchester United to join Internazionale in the summer. SB Nation 2014 MLS preview

It's been suspected for some time, but Inter Milan have now confirmed it: Nemanja Vidić will move from Manchester United to join the Serie A side after the season is over.

The 32-year-old began his career at Red Star Belgrade, before spending a couple seasons with Spartak Moscow. Vidić joined United in January 2006 and he's remained there ever since, establishing himself as an integral part of the back line in his first full season with a club. Sadly, age has taken a toll on the Serbian, and his recent high-profile mistakes became the subject of much discussion and laughter.

It came as no surprise, then, that the Manchester United captain announced his plans to leave the club  last month. Speculation quickly grew as to where the defender might end up, with Fiorentina, who nearly pipped United to Vidić's signature, declaring an interest. Monaco and Galatasaray were both rumored to be after the defender's signature, but he always seemed destined for Italy.

Vidić will look to pull off a few more good seasons with the nerazzurri, who could use some help in defense. And should Walter Mazzarri stay on after this season, Vidić will almost certainly find himself needing to adapt to a three-man back line. But it's likely he'll be able to adjust to Serie A's style, and hopefully be able to impress once more.
