Besiktas midfielder Gökhan Töre has been hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound at a night club, according to a release on the club's official website. Töre is reportedly fine, despite undergoing minor surgery on his shoulder as a result of the shooting.
Neither Töre, nor his teammates who were at a club in Şişli — a district within Istanbul — were involved with instigating the shooting. Instead, it appears that they were caught in the crossfire of an incident they had nothing to do with. Police are investigating the shooting, which apparently stemmed from a heated argument between a man and his girlfriend.
Töre is a 22-year-old attacking midfielder/winger who is on loan with Besiktas from Rubon Kazan. He's made 25 appearances for the Black Eagles in 2013, scoring three goals. He also has 19 caps with the Turkish National Team.
He's expected to be released on Tuesday and could return to training as soon as next week.
