Confusion reigns as Liverpool comes back in with new Danny Ings bid

Despite earlier reports of Ings signing a pre-contract in Spain, a fresh report has Liverpool working on a summer deal for the English striker.

Maybe he's not heading to Spain after all, as a new report has Burnley striker Danny Ings potentially headed to Liverpool in the summer:

Earlier in the day it was reported that Ings had signed a pre-contract deal with David Moyes lead side Real Sociedad in Spain, but that can't be the case if Liverpool are working on a deal for him. Liverpool had a bid rejected last week amid confusion over whether they could sign Ings and loan him back to Burnley for the rest of the season -- they can't -- so this would be the next best solution for the Anfield club as they look to add Ings to their striker rotation.

Liverpool would almost certainly prefer to add Ings to their side now, what with their struggles for goals from the striker position, but Burnely are determined to keep him as they fight to stay in the Premier League. The striker is out of contract this summer, so this would appear to be a fairly creative approach to avoiding the competition of open competition for Ings' signature among interested teams. Burnley would certainly rather make this deal with Liverpool, as the development fee they'd get for Ings signing abroad would be much lower than any such fee they'd get from him signing with an English team.
