Mexico are in the Gold Cup final as expected, but they're facing a surprise opponent. Jamaica will have a chance to win their first ever continental title after pulling off a big upset in the last round.
Of the two sides, Jamaica were certainly the more convincing in their semifinal. They had fewer chances than the United States, but converted a couple of set pieces and defended very well, earning a 2-1 victory. Mexico probably shouldn't be here, but got a lot of very fortunate calls against Panama, including a stoppage time penalty while they were trailing. They went on to win 2-1 after extra time against 10 men.
During the hex, Jamaica actually did worse than average against El Tri. They were one of the four teams that got a result at Estadio Azteca, but also lost at home to Mexico.
Mexico will be without Carlos Vela due to yellow card accumulation, because you can actually get suspended for the final that way. CONCACAF! Giovani dos Santos is hurt, so Tecatito Corona should start up top for Mexico. Jamaica are not expected to make changes to the team that won the semifinal.
