What to watch in the Premier League for the first weekend of 2016

There's several great matches to watch this weekend in England, and we picked the best for you.

The chaos of the Premier League continues to swirl into the new year, and this weekend looks set for some high drama once more. Just four points separate first place from fourth, while fifth place and 10th in the EPL table are only two points apart. With so much of the table so close together, you can guarantee that things are going to go a bit crazy this weekend.

So with so much going on, what should you watch? Worry not -- we've picked three of the best games this weekend for you to keep an eye on.

Best Saturday match: Watford vs. Manchester City

Manchester City are still trapped in a weird vein of form, with just two wins in their last five league matches, and two losses in that same span. They just can't seem to consistently play well of late, and with a trip to Watford in the cards, they need to find their better side quickly. While Watford have a draw and a loss in their last two, they're still playing well and are not far removed from a four-match winning streak. With Odion Igalho and Troy Deeney playing well, this is going to be a tricky match for City.

Bonus Saturday match: Manchester United vs. Swansea City

Is this win-or-else for Louis Van Gaal? That's not exactly clear right now, but what is clear is that a loss to relegation-threatened Swansea City would be terrible news for his job security. Losses for big clubs at bad times has kind of been par for the course this season in the EPL. Under the circumstances, however, another 0-0 draw might be in order, as that's been something of a specialty for both teams of late.

Best Sunday match: Everton vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs are in the top four, and with how they've played of late, they look fully deserving of being there. Now they have to figure out how to stay there, and Everton are going to be a stern test. While the Toffees have only one win in their last five matches, they've been in every single game, with several going down to the wire. The only guarantee in this match is pure chaos.
