This is the third straight year that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have squared off in the Champions League knockout rounds. The last two years, these two teams have met in the quarterfinals, but this time we get their duel one round early. They've split the series so far, with Chelsea winning the tie two years ago and PSG advancing last season, making this the chance for one of these teams to prove their dominance over the other.
The tie begins in Paris at the Parc des Princes, meaning that Paris Saint-Germain need to set and maintain a dominating tone early on in the series. Yes, Chelsea have struggled this season and are nowhere near where they want to be in the league, but they're still a dangerous side who demand respect and can give anyone a tough match.
But PSG are red-hot, running away with Ligue 1 and loaded with talent. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani have scored 32 goals between them. Ángel Di María has been a playmaking force. Thiago Silva is dominating the back line again. This is a different and much nastier Paris Saint-Germain side than we're used to, and Chelsea could be in for a surprise.
