Leicester City continue to defy the odds to sit top of the Premier League table, though their lead remains only three points. They now head into a potentially season-defining three-game run, in which they play Liverpool before away trips to second- and third-placed teams Manchester City and Arsenal. It could well be make-or-break for the Foxes. They'll be looking for at least a point from their only home match in this difficult streak -- against Jürgen Klopp's Merseysiders on Tuesday.
They've got reason to be confident. Liverpool were held to a goalless draw at home to West Ham United over the weekend, with Klopp's team still dogged by a string of frustrating injury problems. Their last Premier League match was a rather topsy-turvy 5-4 victory away at relegation strugglers Norwich, with only a 95th minute Adam Lallana strike ensuring they picked up all three points. Liverpool remain one of the division's most inconsistent and erratic performers, and Leicester could well capitalise.
Key player: Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City)
Leicester have several crucially important players, including striker Jamie Vardy and central midfielders N'Golo Kanté and Danny Drinkwater. However, perhaps the most outstanding of all is winger Riyad Mahrez, who has been his side's main creative force down the right flank this season. Quick, skilful and with an eye for goal, he appears ready-made for a move to a big club. Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno may well have a difficult time trying to keep him quiet.
Recent history
Liverpool won 1-0 when these sides met at Anfield in December, and also came away victorious on their trip to the King Power Stadium last season. Indeed, they've tended to dominate top-flight meetings against the Foxes, and haven't lost a single game to them since March 2001. Rather incredibly, father of current Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, Dean, was on the scoresheet that day, while veritable Leicester legend Muzzy Izzet wrapped up the points in the dying moments.
Leicester City injuries and suspensions
Out: None. In doubt: Jeffrey Schlupp (hamstring); Ritchie De Laet (groin).
Liverpool injuries and suspensions
Out: Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, Divock Origi (knee); Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Rossiter, Martin Škrtel, Philippe Coutinho (hamstring). In doubt: Jordan Henderson (foot)
Leicester have no confirmed absentees, though winger Schlupp and full-back De Laet both face late fitness tests. Meanwhile, Liverpool still have a lengthy injury list, including star playmaker Coutinho, and striker Sturridge. Midfielder Henderson will likely have to sit out again with a foot injury.
