It's been a tough season for Manchester City and Liverpool, with neither doing as well as they thought they would this campaign. Sunday's League Cup final presents the best chance that either has to capture silverware this season.
With a top-four finish completely out of the question, Liverpool are focused on the cups. They're coming off a Europa League win in midweek, having done well to beat Augsburg. City had a good week as well, defeating Dynamo Kiev in Ukraine to put themselves in position to make the Champions League quarterfinals.
Both teams are very shorthanded due to injury. Joe Gomez and Martin Skrtel are missing from the backline for Liverpool, while Dejan Lovren is ill. Danny Ings and Joe Allen are out as well, while Jordan Rossiter isn't quite fully fit after a hamstring injury. Manchester City are without Samir Nasri, Fabian Delph and Kevin De Bruyne, while Wilfried Bony and Jesus Navas have slight injury issues as well.
