Chris Pontius wins MLS Player of the Week for Week 14

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

MLS is in the midst of a two-week break for the Copa America Centenario group stage, but just before the tournament began, they crammed in two days' worth of midweek games.

Enough teams played that we held a Player of the Week vote, and the Philadelphia Union's Chris Pontius won SB Nation's award, after scoring a goal and picking up an assist in a 3-2 win over Columbus Crew SC.

Instead of the now-regular votes for New York Red Bulls players, who took the mini-week off, four Seattle Sounders and three Portland Timbers received votes for the week.

Full results for Week 14, with first-place votes getting three points, second-place votes receiving two points and third-place votes earning a point each:

Player Points
Chris Pontius 12
Liam Ridgewell 7
Joevin Jones 3
Brad Evans 3
Keegan Rosenberry 3
Walker Zimmerman 2
Ola Kamara 2
Ethan Finlay 2
Cristian Roldan 2
Jake Gleeson 2
Jordan Morris 1
Brian Rowe 1
