The two footballing titans left in Euro 2016 go head-to-head in the second semifinal on Thursday. Tournament hosts France had failed to live up to expectations until they faced Iceland in the last round, when they romped to a 5-2 victory. Didier Deschamps will be hoping his side can maintain that level of performance when they take on reigning World Cup champions Germany in Marseille, though that's a task easier said than done.
The game kicks off at 3 p.m. ET. It's on TV on ESPN, and you can watch online on Watch ESPN.
Considering the relative quality of their opponents, Germany were arguably just as impressive in their quarterfinal win over Italy. Though they relied on a penalty shootout to progress to the final four, Die Mannschaft were certainly the better side and deserved the victory over Antonio Conte's side. For this match, however, they'll be without center-back Mats Hummels, who has been ruled out due to suspension. He'll almost certainly be joined on the sidelines by injured midfielders Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira. Striker Mario Gómez, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament.
France are in a much healthier state, with Deschamps expected to have a full-strength team to choose from. He'll have N'Golo Kanté and Adil Rami back after suspensions, though it'll be interesting to see if they return to the starting lineup considering how impressive Les Bleus were in their quarterfinal victory.
