We're still early in the season but we're already upon a major match in the Premier League: the Manchester Derby, with Manchester United and Manchester City squaring off at Old Trafford in a battle for the top spot in the EPL. While this is one of the oldest rivalries in England and a match between two of the best clubs in the league, it's well worth your time for another reason entirely: the renewal of the rivalry between Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.
The ex-managers of Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, are used to facing off in major rivalry clashes, and there's never seemed to be any love lost between them. They represent two very different schools of football thought: Guardiola with his possession and flexibility and high-flyers, and Mourinho looking to slow things down, playing more rigidly and with specific tasks for each player — but still perfectly willing to send his players racing ahead when the time is right.
Both men have been getting fantastic early results from their new clubs, though both United and City are still adapting to life under their respective new bosses. Both are undefeated, however, meaning that if either team wins this match they'll be at the top of the table — something both United and City would be eager to see happen, and not just to get one over on their rival. After both fell well short of being in the title picture a year ago, stepping on their rivals' backs to sit atop the EPL would be a wonderful way to kick-start their respective seasons.
