One of European football's overarching narratives over the last few seasons has been Juventus' transformation from perennial also-rans to genuine contenders. Runners-up in this tournament just a couple of seasons ago, Massimiliano Allegri's side head into this year's edition looking to challenge once again. They've started the domestic season with three straight victories, and are already looking in fine shape.
However, they'll go up against one of the tournament's unknown quantities in the group stage's first matchday, with Jorge Sampaoli's Sevilla visiting the Juventus Stadium. They sit second only to Real Madrid in La Liga after the first three rounds, with the players already adapting to the unusual tactical approach of their coach. They could well shock Juve with their intensity on Wednesday.
However, it's Sevilla who have the lion's share of injury problems: They're still without Benoît Trémoulinas, Michael Krohn-Dehli and David Soria. Juve, meanwhile, have midfielders Stefano Sturaro and Claudio Marchisio still sidelined.
