El Tri put up a great fight, but will head home after the Round of 16 for the seventh consecutive World Cup. They had no answer for Neymar, who finally came alive after a quiet group stage. The PSG star was the best player on the pitch, scoring the opener and providing a spectacular assist on the second Brazilian goal.

A lot of Brazil and Liverpool fans alike have been calling for Firmino to make the starting lineup, and the substitute has nicely made his case for getting that job in the quarterfinal. Neymar was the architect of the goal, going on a long run and squaring to the center of the box, but Firmino was in perfect position to finish off the move.

Brazil has been well on top from the second half kickoff, and it only took six minutes of pressure for them to create a goal. Neymar set it up and finished it, making a run into the center and hitting a backheel to Willian, who’d drifted over to the left side of the pitch. He ran into the box, hit a perfect cross, and Neymar had a tap-in.

El Tri has made a halftime switch. Their captain was a bit slow for this wide open game, so they’ve opted to bring on one of their fastest players as a replacement.

This game is scoreless, but it hasn’t been without entertainment. It’s been a wide-open affair, with 15 total shots between the two teams. Each team’s center backs and goalkeeper have been up to the tough task given to them by their supporting players so far, but it would be shocking if this game ended scoreless.
