U.S. Open 2012: Mardy Fish Comes Back From 2-Sets Down To Advance

American Mardy Fish came back from two sets down to defeat Russian Nikolay Davydenko on Thursday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Fish, No. 23 on the men's side, looked close to elimination after losing the second set in a tiebreak. He was able to recover and take the final three sets in relatively easy fashion.

Fish's strong serve allowed him to make the stunning recovery. He topped out at 130 mph and smashed 16 aces. He also started playing better defense, eventually breaking Davydenko's serve eight times overall for the match.

Fish will advance to play the winner of Jimmy Wang and Gilles Simon in the third round. The comeback from two sets down was the tenth of its kind for the 2012 U.S. Open. The previous event record was nine for the entire tournament.
