2012 U.S. Open Tennis Scores: Sara Errani Advances To Semis

Sara Errani became the first Italian semifinalist at the U.S. Open since 1930 with her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Roberta Vinci early Wednesday afternoon.

Errani, the runner up at the French Open earlier this year, eliminated her doubles partner Vinci quick, efficiently and without any sort of post-match celebration. The tenth-seeded Errani took full advantage of Vinci's 37 unforced errors, seeming poised and determined in the hour and 12 minutes she was one the court.

When asked by the post-game announcer whether she feels she can win this tournament or not, Errani replied "I will tell you in three or four days."

Ironically, this Errani's victory also comes less than 24 hours after her and Vinci defeated Germans Julia Goerges and Kveta Peschke to advance to the semifinals on the doubles side.

Errani will now be tasked with taking on either Serena Williams or Ana Ivanovic in what will be Errani's second Grand Slam semifinals of 2012.
