Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic will both be in action for the third round of Wimbledon on Friday. Williams, the women's top seed and favorite for the tournament, will be taking on unseeded Heather Watson, while Djokovic, the top seed of the men's side, will face No. 27 seed Bernard Tomic.
Watson bested Daniela Hantuchova in the second round, taking her down in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Tomic bested Pierre-Hugues Herbert in his second-round matchup, 7-6(3), 6-4, 7-6(5). Djokovic remains the favorite on the men's side, though he should have stiff competition from the likes of Roger Federer and Andy Murray, who cleared their respective second-round matchups without issue on Thursday.
Williams is definitely the favorite on the women's side as well, though No. 2 seed Petra Kvitova was dominant in her Thursday match against Kurumi Nara. Other top women in action on Friday include No. 4 Maria Sharapova, who will be facing a seeded opponent for the first time this tournament in No. 29 Irina-Camelia Begu, and Lucie Safarova, the tournament's sixth seed, who will take on unseeded Sloane Stephens. Either Camelia Begu and Safarova could pose as a challenge for Williams. Safarova battled Williams in the French Open final in May and lost 6-3, 6-7, 6-2.
The day's matches get underway at 6:30 a.m. ET at the earliest, with television coverage picking up at 7 a.m. on ESPN. That coverage will run through 4:30 p.m., with a live stream available at WatchESPN. Below is a full schedule of the seeded matches. You can see a list of the rest here.
