2015 US Open: Bracket, schedule and results for women's draw

Serena Williams's bid for a 22nd Grand Slam title came up short in the semifinals, and Flavia Pennetta prevailed over Roberta Vinci in the final, to win the championship.

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The women's final at the 2015 US Open sold out faster than the men's final for what is believed to be the first time in tournament history, as noted by Darren Rovell of ESPN. And it's easy to see why. Sure, men's tennis is just as compelling as its ever been with Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray at the top, but the women's side has a truly dominant force who is chasing history every time she takes the court: world No. 1 Serena Williams.

Unfortunately for the folks who bought those tickets in advance expecting to see Williams bid for her 22nd Grand Slam title and a calendar Grand Slam, Williams lost to unseeded Italian Roberta Vinci in the semifinals.

Steffi Graf was the last woman to win all four Grand Slams in a single season, but Williams won at Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the French Open this season and looked primed to take the US Open before Vinci stole the upset in Friday's semifinal matchup.

That set up a final between Vinci and No. 26 Flavia Pennetta, who downed No. 2 seed Simona Halep in the semifinals. Pennetta won the match in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-2 and is your 2015 US Open champion.

Below, we've got the full women's singles draw and the full schedule, updated daily with results.
