The 2016 Australian Open is over, as top seed Novak Djokovic is walking away with his sixth singles title in Melbourne after opening the year with a title in Qatar. Djokovic took down Andy Murray, the second seed, in the finals and earned his 11th Grand Slam title. He's tied Roy Emerson for the most Australian Open wins with six.

The so-called "big four" of Djokovic, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal still exists, but Djokovic has been a step above those three and he could be in line for his most dominant season yet. He dominated Nadal in the final in Qatar, 6-1, 6-2, beat Federer in the semifinals in Melbourne and handed Murray a straight-sets loss in the finals.

Unfortunately, Nadal fell in the opening round to unseeded Fernando Verdasco, a fellow Spaniard who has always played him in close matches. Federer, Djokovic and Murray all made it to the semifinals, along with No. 13 MIlos Raonic. Federer fell to Djokovic in said semifinals, and Murray narrowly bested Raonic in five sets to set up a finals matchup against Djokovic.

Last year, Djokovic won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, only falling short in the finals of the French Open, the one Grand Slam he has still yet to win.
