American Sam Querrey made it through Novak Djokovic and successfully landed in his first career quarterfinals matchup, but his 2016 Wimbledon bid came to an end there. Querrey was unable to get through the sixth-seeded Milos Raonic on Wednesday, with Raonic taking the win in four sets, 6-4, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.

Querrey shocked the world by eliminating Djokovic and then showed it wasn't a fluke by taking down Nicolas Mahut in the fourth round. But he won't become the first American in 11 years to reach a Grand Slam semifinal, as Raonic advances to the semis.

There, he will face No. 3 Roger Federer, who prevailed in his quarterfinal matchup over Marin Cilic on Wednesday. Federer took all five sets to beat Cilic, the ninth seed in the tournament, winning 6-7(4), 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(9), 6-3. Federer has been dominant in this year's tournament, but he was pushed to the absolute limit against Cilic. He will have his hands full in the semifinals on Friday.

In the other half of the bracket, No. 10 seed Tomas Berdych made it through No. 32 Lucas Pouille, taking him down in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-3, 6-2. Berdych was pushed to five sets in his Round of 16 match so he has to be feeling good about breezing through the young Pouille.

Berdych advances to the semifinals where he will face Andy Murray, the No. 2 seed and the favorite to win the tournament since Djokovic's exit. Murray has never been favored to win a Grand Slam before Djokovic's upset, and was pushed to the limit in a thrilling quarterfinal against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the 12th seed. Murray bested Tsonga in five sets, 7-6(10), 6-1, 3-6, 4-6, 6-1.

The women's semifinals will take place on Thursday. Top seed Serena Williams will be up against unseeded Elina Venina in one half while No. 4 seed Angelique Kerber will face No. 8 Venus Williams in the other. The potential for an all-Williams sisters final is exciting to say the least, though Kerber is considered Serena's top competition at this stage.
