My internet was out from when I got up Sunday morning
Until Monday at 4:30 pm. I had to go to my office on a Sunday afternoon!
Thoughts and prayers appreciated as I work through the aftermath of this difficult experience.

I feel bad for Taft always having this for his legacy
I always tell my students that he’s the only president to leave office and go on to the Supreme Court, and that that is also a good trivia fact, but we as a society persist in keeping him in his bathtub.
I have subtitles on almost all the time.
Helps with the British sometimes.
I also turn them on whenever I can in classes, to help with accessibility, whether that is for physical reasons, or ESL reasons, or whatever.
Some are better than others though… I showed a film today about sports betting, and it was made in the 90s. There are a lot of very thick NYC accents in it. One guy under investigation was named "Guard." The subtitles consistently interpreted this as "God." I kept trying not to crack up as God was being investigated for his illegal point shaving activities.

The rage I predicted didn't happen though!
I figured I’d make someone mad for making MSU the railroad, and not Purdue. But that may also owe to the fact that this might be my longest Power Poll yet, and perhaps no one got to that part of the poll.

You can support candidates that champion those causes today!
And that also don’t call childfree women selfish for committing "race suicide."
I really do enjoy studying Roosevelt, as I find him fascinating. But you know historians— we love slaying sacred cows. It’s all part of our indoctrination plans.

Maybe it's a woman thing
You spend almost nine months carrying and growing a child, then go through the agony of laboring to deliver it, and then do not even get to see it live. It must be devastating. Then, there is so much silence and weirdness around miscarriage and infant loss— people don’t know what to say, so they say nothing. It’s like the child never existed. I completely understand wanting to have something tangible to remember that he or she, was, in fact, here and loved.
Definitely did not expect my Power Poll to become a forum on infant death, sorry everyone.
