I have to say.
It’s a bit of a weird strategy. If you’ll pay a free agent at RB, who has been worn down at least 4 years by that point, and you’ll pay your mid round drafts premium money after they’ve had success, why not invest the draft capital for a higher pick?
Something about that doesnt make sense to me.

Then why did you say they need to
"Pay what your fanbase is worth"?
Comment
I mean, if its true...
Then that’s really good news. No one wants their team to be in cap hell.

Clearly hes the biggest thing holding us back.

Has it?
Explain why that is so.

Yes. I get it.
None of that is objectively wrong. That’s why Hooper is a very good TE. What the issue is, for me, is that
1. We are going to be tight on cap space for the next couple years. Our offense has plenty of fire power, even if we remove Hooper from the mix.
2. Our defense is lacking severely along the line. We have 1 legit producer on our D line right now. We need to do better.
Take those 2 facts together, and you get a recipe for letting Hooper walk. Hes going to most likely get paid as an elite TE. Hes just not worth that to our team right now in my opinion. Hes a very good TE, but I dont think hes a world beater. Hes not worth that level of money, especially when we cant afford it.

He did way more than expected.
Until he signed the new deal. Then he did way less.

If I'm being totally and brutally honest here.
They’re already paying what fans like you are worth. If you insist on not showing up until after they’ve won, you’re already getting what your fandom is worth. Which is almost nothing. Fairweather and bandwagon fans dont make up a fanbase, they just move in an out depending on how the team is doing.

If people are only showing up after they start winning
That’s not a fanbase. That’s a group of bandwagoners.
I’m talking about a real fanbase. One that will support the team even in the years they arent on a run.

Most people arent saying Hooper isnt that good.
They’re saying that, when it comes to getting a huge contract, he isnt that good.
Hes good. Hes just not that level of good.

I think you missed the biggest combo of issues.
It’s always boiled down to 2 basic issues from what I can tell.
1. The Falcons have had little overall success as a franchise. They arent a very popular team at all nationally, and have never really built a national fanbase with the exception of a few years when Vick fever really took hold.
2. Because of this, they struggle to hold a stable fanbase in the Atlanta and surrounding area, which is where most of the people buying tickets will come from. Atlanta is made up mostly of transplants. This goes back several decades. People moved in from all over, and never had a reason to switch fandom to the Falcons. Therefore their children were unlikely to become Falcons fans either.

Uh. No.
They scored on the first possession of the 3rd. They didnt run very much at all after that, including when it was really the only thing that made sense after they were in FG range up by 8. They didnt kill clock, and the Pats were doing nothing but dinking and dunking them to death.

I guess so?
They havent actually done anything since Herschel Walker single handedly won them a championship in, what, 1981?
They’ve had extremely talented rosters, and failed to deliver any championships since then. They even had the game against Bama won, and choked it away. The only real difference is the lone championship from 39 years ago.

I dont think you can really answer that until it happens.
He could end up being very effective in man coverage on another team, under a different coach. Or, he could just always be the same guy.

The offense never tried to burn clock.
That’s the #1 reason they lost.

1995 last game of the season against the 49ers.
First game I had ever been to. Got there super early with my brothers and 2 other friends. Sat about 10 rows up in the endzone behind the goalposts. Very nearly caught a football while Morten Anderson was warming up. Got to see Jammal Anderson, Craig Heyward, Jessie Tuggle, Clay Matthew’s, and Jeff George for us.
Jerry Rice, Steve Young for the 9ers.
It was a great game. Jeff George got hurt in the 2nd half, and flipped off every 49er on the field. The Falcons pulled out a win 28-27 in the last minutes. Ended up as a WC team.
It was a good first game for me.

Someone will pay him.
Hes a very good TE, and everyone always thinks they can be the one to get that guy to take the big leap.

I think they should have just stuck with Sark also.
I don’t think I’d go as far as to say I miss Shanny though. ‘15 was pretty awful. ’16 was obviously amazing. But, so far, he has only had 1 good season with us, and 1 good season with the 9ers. I’m interested to see how 2020 shakes out for him. Its really hard to have a good season after a SB loss. He might not return to his former glory for a while.

That fan might not have lived through the 4 SB losses either.
It was the early 90s after all.

While I don't blame people for being angry at the psl's.
The ONLY sports team in Ga that has die hard fans, win or lose, is UGA football. In ‘16 there were magically a fair number of Falcons fans in my area (Savannah area). By the time ’17 started, all anyone cared about was the Dawgs again.
It’s sad to me. I dont think people realize that it’s not every state that has a pro sports team in every league.

Morgan isnt getting fired. I never said he was good. Hes obviously not very good.
Alex Mack is potentially a HoF center. If he isnt good enough to be effective on this line, in this offense, with these coaches, then why would you want a rookie?

I hate the expanded playoffs.
No thank you. If anything, take a team away. I hate sports where half the teams get to the playoffs, and then the playoffs last almost as long as the regular season. No thanks.

Sorry. I missed that.
My bad

Ok.
1. You can continue to support the team. This changes nothing. Him stating that they were horrible and he got beat up is just a statement of fact.
2. Laying asphalt isnt that tough. Its 90% automated. Have you seen the people that work on road crews?
3. Lou Gehrig played for the Yankees. You know, the best franchise in his sport?

Umm. No.
That was the point of my comment.
