Show money, win money, performance bonus, *and* at least 20% of Costa's purse?
That’s a lot of pasta. Good for him.

There’s an old interview with Kid Nate where he talks about running a bunch of sock puppet accounts in the early days of BE, just to make the place look busy. I don’t think he has the time for that anymore, though.

Agreed, boo to this
We’re already here, we’re probably going to read it anyway. I read an article a day about Ali saying estupideces as it is; I don’t need to be mislead into it.

He was 211 on Wednesday, so that's 26 pounds if he hadn't started cutting at all.
I assume he had cut some already, so 30 pounds almost sounds like a minimum. That seems crazy, but I don’t know what anyone else is cutting. Maybe they all walk around as heavyweights?

Then, the main event becomes Grant Dawson vs. Rick Glenn or Rose-Clark vs. Joselyne Edwards. Nor really an option, right?
Welcome to Fuck It Friday™, where these are both viable options.

Well, the UFC could decide to do it, but I have no faith in them on that front.
We’ve seen fighters paid for making weight if the commission scraps the fight over an issue with the opponent. Is that payment a UFC decision, or the comission? I’ve assumed the former, but I don’t actually know.

From the article, regarding the 195 deal:
Costa agreed to forfeit 20 percent of his purse and the fight was saved.
Not sure what the final result was after the 205 shift. If Marvin’s people negotiated 40% or more though, he’d almost be negligent not to take the fight.

No fight, no fight pay.
The UFC should pay fighters if they decline to proceed against an opponent who’s missed a significant amount of weight (or has stated that they can’t make the weight), but to my knowledge they do not.

Only one person mentioned in this article survived a Randleplex, and that person is the GOAT.

Live from the sauna?
Hope he puts it on Costa, but this whole thing is bullshit. End weight cutting.
If he doesn’t take it, though, what does he get? If the fight falls through he gets nothing. Vettori, despite being the guy who was meeting obligations, has no leverage if Costa would rather not fight than make 195.

Ironically, the strongest unions in the US are probably police unions. You’ll never hear a peep from Republicans about making it easier to fire cops, though.

Why does JDS get the "former heavyweight champion" treatment in the title, though? I feel like that’s for people whose names won’t register with the reader; I thought this was going to be about Ricco Rodriguez until I saw the picture.
JDS isn’t saying anything unbelievable here, though. I hope the wrestling works out for him; he always seemed like a good dude.
The joke within the joke was that no one from the NHL would notice if they ended up in Cameroon rather than Nigeria. (Although, frankly, I doubt I would either, unless I heard mad people speaking French.)
