At age 14, Jay thought he could play professional basketball. He spent the next six years learning that the NBA is not the place for slow, 6'1 kids with no handle and zero defensive abilities to speak of. After learning that his heart far outweighed his athletic ability, Jay realized his basketball mortality and turned to sports writing.
