I attribute his play to the new DB coach. That coach worked wonders with nearly all of the DBs.

Right, there are a lot of UDFA in the NFL HOF.

Correction: should be "will win out".

swimcris, I don't like either of the proposals.
I think that a 17 Game Regular Season schedule, with each team having nine home games and eight away games every other year, will present unforeseen significant issues that will result in an eventual return to a 16 game schedule or progression to an 18 game schedule. I don’t foresee any significant impact on the standings as the standings are based on a win – loss percentage rather than solely on the basis of wins and losses. At the end of the day the 17 game schedule will probably prevail but I hope that it does not.
An expansion in playoff teams will water down the talent of the teams in the playoffs just as it has in the NHL and the NBA. The present set up is perfect, and as you said, swimcris, if it aint broke, don’t fix it. At the end of the day this proposal will when out with overwhelming support for it from second tier teams.

No disrespect intended, Hammer, but that's akin to getting the Monday KC Star on Sunday morning.
Comment
Yeah, Bradimal, that's exactly what I meant after reading the first post and before reading your post.
Comment
Agreed. And nearly all of the projected Free Agent signings for KC are totally unrealistic.
The Chiefs will most likely not participate in the first several days of Free Agency, as they will have their hands full trying to retain their own key free agents.
Comment
Agreed, but call them All Stars or All Americans (like in the past) instead of Pro Bowlers.

Typo.......... should read "the fairest way to do it".
A 17 game season must include at least two byes and as much as I like watching Chiefs games almost every week, three byes would allow teams to cope with a 17 game regular season schedule; might reduce the number of injuries; and would allow injured players more time to heal without missing more games. Three byes would also allow me two more Sundays of golf.

I read somewhere about three weeks ago that they are going to alternate the extra 17th game every year so for example, the Chiefs get 9 home games in year one and 8 home games in year two.
That said, it seems to me that fairest was to do it would be that the 17th game must be between teams in each conference so as to limit the adverse impact in the standings in each conference. For example, by applying the above example, in year one the Chiefs would play an NFC team whose prior season record is close to the prior season record of the Chiefs.

Neither am I, fujirio, but I think that this happening is a slam dunk.

I did not see anything in that article of CBA proposals pertaining to an expansion from one bye in the regular season to two or even three byes.
That’s curious!

I remember Lloyd Wells. He deserves to be in the Chiefs Ring/Hall of Fame
Comment
Thanks. Perhaps so, as the article is silent with respect to the duration of the PUP, as it only addresses the time frame for return.

Correction: My Bad. I found what is shown below through Google.
21 days
Once a player on the PUP starts practicing, they have a maximum of 21 days to take that player off the PUP list and onto either the active or inactive list. However, if a player practices during training camp or is taken off the Active/PUP list, he is no longer allowed to be designated to the Reserve/PUP list.

Agreed, but IMHO there isn't any other UFA on the team that is worth of being placed on the CAP.
Comment 2 replies, 1 rec
I think the Chiefs will tell Jones that they will tag him in order to buy time with respect to the CAP but that they fully intend to sign him after they figure out where they will be with respect to the CAP.
There’s no way that they would tag him without that assurance, as to do so would thoroughly piss him off.
Comment 1 rec
What you said about the Patriots is true for the most part but if Jones was on that team BB would not let him walk, as he is just beginning to reach his prime.
Comment 1 reply
If he is no where close to returning at the beginning of camp I think that he will get the PUP, which as I recall, means six missed games but
I may be wrong on the required length of the PUP.
Comment
Somewhat agree but it would have to be with a team at around 15 in the draft.
Comment 1 rec
He's 31 so I doubt that any team will go after him. I think that he will re-sign with the Chiefs on a very reasonable one year contract with an option for year two.

Correction: 6 Keepers. We have 20 FA so the others must be rfa
Comment 1 reply
Yeah, that's 12 ufa's lost and 8 keepers by my count.

Off Topic Questions to Someone in the Know:
Can the Chiefs sign Chris Jones and trade or extend Sammy Watkins at any time or do they have to wait until the start of the new league year?
Thanks.
I think that they can do either at any time but I’n not sure of that.

Well stated and well deserved, Craig. You should give thought to actually sending that letter to Spags and his coaches. They
would most likely appreciate that.
Comment 1 rec
But then again, placing the Franchise Tag on some one other than Jones will be costly.
Comment 1 reply
Exactly. And if the Chiefs are able to sign Chris Jones before the start of Free Agency,
they will be in a good position to place the Franchise Tag and Transition Tag on guys like Breeland and others. So if the Chiefs intend to sign Jones by finding ways to fit under the Cap, they should sign Jones before Free Agency.
Comment 1 rec
I think that the Chiefs are going to lose a lot of players in Free Agency but they will reap a lot of Compensatory Picks in the 2021 Draft.
Comment 2 replies
I think that the Chiefs (Veach, Reid and Hunt) have shown what they think about the draft in that they gave up a 1st and 2nd round pick to acquire a proven talent in Frank Clark.
That said, they will find a way to keep Jones and they will trade Watkins for a 2nd round draft pick.
Comment 1 rec
Any team that wants Sammy in a trade will likely not make the trade unless Sammy agrees to an extension beforehand. That said,
it seems to me that that will be the reason Sammy stays with the Chiefs on a contract extension.
