Damn!
That’s a beauty! Is the Green Drake hatch still a big thing on Penn’s Creek?

Just googled Milheim Hotel,
Looks like it’s still going. That’s great, many fond memories of that place

I really miss Blue-White weekend
Moved to Las Vegas 14 years ago (just in time for the crash) so haven’t been back for a Blue-White game since, but back when i still lived in PA, Blue-White weekend meant going up on Thursday night with my dad and a few friends, checking into our luxurious accommodations at the Milheim Hotel, dinner and multiple cocktails, then on Friday either fishing on Penn’s Creek or some hiking, more dinner and cocktails Friday night, and then a full day in State College for Blue-White on Saturday. Good times!

Not to mention that...
….Holieway’s replacement after he got hurt was Charles Thompson, who led them to the big win over Nebraska, but then got into a bit of trouble (major understatement) that brought even more negative attention to OU than they already had at the time.

I'm getting a bit off-subject..
..but you’re right, Oklahoma was the better team that night, but one thing I’ll always remember about that game was what a beast Shane Conlan was that night. He was a beast a year later against Miami and that will obviously always be remembered more because they won, but he might actually have been better against Oklahoma. Jamelle probably looks back on that game with really good memories because they won the national title, but I’m sure there’s a part of him that still sees Shane in his dreams.

Found this snippet on Aikman's wikipedia page
"On October 19, Miami’s Jerome Brown broke through the offensive line, sacked Aikman on the Sooner 29-yard line and broke Aikman’s ankle. Aikman, who had been six of eight passing for 131 yards, would be lost for the season. Switzer and offensive coordinator Jim Donnan were forced to switch back to the wishbone offense under freshman quarterback Jamelle Holieway"
So yeah, looks like they had gotten away from the wishbone at least to a degree. (and apologies, I didn’t see that you had already posted about Holieway earlier.

Painful to bring up for obvious reasons....
…..but Jamelle Holieway comes to mind when i think of a true freshman QB. Although, the fact that I’m bringing up a wishbone QB from 37 years ago that only ended up playing because of injury to the starter, it pretty much further proves your point on how difficult and rare it is.

My favorite memories of the Blue/White game..
…would be back when Joe used to join the radio broadcast for the second half and hearing him butcher half of the names of his players, and also when he would automatically go into coach-mode mid-sentence while talking to the broadcast team. "Ya know Steve, I like the way our defense looks and——AHHHH, WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING OUT THERE, YOU CAN’T MISS THAT TACKLE"
