carve out a niche……….LOL
o , wade was bad.
Yea he was a mess at MD…..no doubt about that.
I’m actually , welll i wouldn’t say friends, but i do know Steve Hood. He is NOT a fan of Wade either and i don’ think it has to do with the race thing.
It’s like the president……i know we don’t have enough black coaches, but i’m not blinded to fact either. Trump is an idiot, but he very well could be smarter than Biden……There are plenty of dumb black coaches. Dear fuck what is going on at GW is an embarrassment to the sport!
Still it’s a fact that the NBA is this % black and what % of coaches are black?
Not complicated …..b well
DM has very pretty form on that Jump shot.
But i don’t believe the injury impacted his shooting. I certainly don’t know, but when you are actually playing you really don’t feel the injury.
Course every injury is different etc etc. Perhaps DM was in constant pain etc etc. . . . and he has had less ridiculous misses this year than in years past.
IMOP, on a winning B10 team, the best DM is a guy who doesn’t impact the O beyond hitting the O Glass, dribbling the ball up court and setting picks.
As long as he drives agasint 1 guy and not the opposing team, i’m find with DM banging his way to the hoop and rising over his man for an attempt.
Thou sadly your stats speak to his lack of touch even when he is shooting an 8 footer.
DM is a puzzle in a riddle.
If i was coaching DM, i tell him to have the EGO to play touching the ball as little as possible.
and runs to the O Glass with abandon.
The young man is a walking TO and time and again, when he gets emotional he drives into a defense like he is playing football. My wife now knows what "driving into bad #’s" means….
I’ll say this, it’s no denying Maryland missed Darryl. I think Wiggins was underrated here , and surely Aaron is more missed, but DM came to work and did want to win.
I’m honest to God not sure what in the hell is going on in a few of these current turtles’ heads.
I@’s your stats are brilliant….
I’d guess as the Marquette season plays out we will see DM touch the ball less and less…..So your "Ball-handling" stat, of TO / STL % should really bump up for DM.
The money for you would be in a web site that is based on Sports gambling. Sports Gambling in this country is about to TAKE OFF……..You will present very well. " " It’s fucking math! " " lol, course it’s not, but your site will make it as close to math as you will find for sports betters!
Dog, there is money to be made!

I don't know what in the hell u r talking about, but my God i long for the time when your post were the big head aches here for me and not the disaster this team is
Wade was a great recruiter…………….and by god he got those dunbar kids to play hard.

For the first game this season DM didn’t have 3 TO’s.
Seems to have changed his game a bit last night……More of what i have been calling for , for 5 years.
Rebound, Defense, less ball in his hands.
I’m telling you, if that kid could adjust his mindset to that, Darryl could play in the damn NBA!
I don’t think he has ever really lifted seriously , and he looks like a greek God. Man i would love to see Shaka Smart evolve that young man closer to his possible peak.
Course McHale would have to change his name here, i’d have guys coming back from the dead to tell me how stupid i am if DM goes to the league.

Truly AMAZING that he has a job.
Also amazing that i post that stat on this post and not the last, but like the Terps, McHale is near his end….lol
I'm not ready to say Fatts is a ball hog.
I think the idea going into the season was Fatts being a facilitator in the sense that Eric was, DM was HH was in past seasons.
Dribble it up, get it to the right guys, but we aren’t sure if we want you to have it on crucial possessions.
Well, we all saw that not work because we got shocking little O from everyone else…….So i am assuming the staff has told Fatts to drive more, create more.
………and that has worked about as well.
Fatts hasn’t played as well as i thought he would, but i’d guess he is playing about where smart staff members would have predicted.
He has never shot well, and he has always handed over a few stupid TO’s. But the kid tries hard and will out play his man in most games this season.
That said, he showed a few moments of poor effort in our last game.
Like i have said, this season is gonna be bad. It might be down right ugly. I thought Donta was just throwing shots up vs NW, and Fatts’ took bad shots time and again.
I wanted to see Mark Bench starters over the last 10 years when effort was poor and he rarely did. And i think we see the end result. All of our returning players give inconsistent effort.
If anyone has seen A Terp on the floor fighting for a loose ball not names Donta Scott you let me know.
Guys i do a ton of the leg work here,,,,so i’d appreciate it if someone posted the ranking of all the Terps.
That would be one example of just how talented this team is…..Sure guys like Jarius Hamilton have been mega bust, but we have 6? 8 guys that were top 150 recruits i’d guess.
That is MUCH MUCH MUCH more talent that everyone we have played as other than Louisville, and perhpas VT.
NW is a terrible team every season. Truely no coach alive has stolen $ for this long as Collins has at NW.
His record is UNDER 500!!!
For God sake he hasn’t won DD games since 2018! …..and has been to ANY post season tournament 1 time in 9 (NINE) seasons.
I’m just happy a white head coach is getting a fair shake……….lol
Well said..........agree to disagree
I agree that Ian isn’t even helping a B10 team…………..
Reese also is a lot of potential, but how much is he helping on the court? Not much. He plays physical, but his court transition (Hustle) is often lazy.
He is a TO waiting to happen…..His D is VERY good for a FR. . . . but like i inferred; i agree, right now Reese isn’t PLAYING like a future NBA kid, but you most Def can see how he could be in the NBA in 20 months. He can do everything & defend post to point. I would be shocked in fact if he isn’t an All American as a JR or in the NBA.
I’m not the big Donta fan here……I think LY he was unguarded from 3 , and made a few as a result.
His effort is always hit and miss. But he is one of the Few Terps who will push back when pushed…….But 55, DS is a very talented B10 upper classmen.
B10 teams can win big if he is your starter. So while i have never said DS will play in the NBA, many here have and i do see where if he worked harder he could be a point 4 like Dray…..Instead he is throwing shots up as if that is what NBA scouts look for.
Eric has been terrible………but he had to do something to get to that NBA Camp LY.
It is clear Turge hasn’t coached him up, but i absolutely blame Eric. I think his effort is sickening. That , IMOP, is blaming a kid as harshly as i will here. . . . .
Now that said, McHale is a bad guy here for saying what everyone else should be seeing. I mean, if you haven’t seen Eric’s attrosious effort this season you aren’t watching the game very closely, right?
My God his transition D alone was mindboggling vs NW.
But still in general, we just differ.
I think the players are busting there ass. . . . but i think it is down right clear that in each game this season the other team just plays harder. We can differ on that as well, but i’d find that something a bit disappointing to disagree with a fellow fan on.
I think we can both see that perhaps 1 george mason player would be offered a scholarship. I mean the talent difference is that stark…..and they pounded us
Do you know G MAson has lost 5 straight since they beat us?
They just lost to freaking ODU!
Mark did a terrible job this year in every way, but at the end of the day for our upperclassmen to allow us to lose that game speaks to them as well.

That would be my guess as well
If you want hope, i do think we have talent and Manning was hired by an ACC school only 5 years ago to lead that program.
He failed, but he has to be reasonably talented at coaching.
Basically Manning coaching future depends on if he can get Fatts to play smart, Ayala (and the team in general) to play harder, and have Ian and Reese grow up FAST.
Not something i anticipate…..
I@'s.............if you haven't read "Thinking Fast and Slow" you now have something to do this Basketball season.
For the rest of you….hmmmmm
I loved "I am Dynamite" about Nietzsche………but"thinking Fast and slow" is a real slow read, that only a #‘s guy like I@’s will enjoy consistently enough to stick with it.
Hope everyone is well.
Maybe i’ll start a Non Terp thread…….
NBA and thoughts on other College teams.
I may also address how our last 2 presidents aren’t as smart as we are!!!!! ; )
LOL........yea this year Eric's play has been so bad you kinda wonder if something is broken with him
I certainly became concerned as well. I have been a very loyal Turge guy…..but by George Mason i felt his career at MD was over.
SHocked how they did it. . . . . but i think it is this teams only chance…..of course i also can see where Danny may completely just lose the team entirely.
The whole deal puzzles me to be blunt.
Do we miss Aaron THAT much?
Was DM really this mythical glue piece?
What in the hell were Donta, Dock, Eric and Hakeem doing this off season besides styling their hair?
I never wanted to speak poorly about OUR coach, so i kept it to myself, but 2 different people told me over the years they were shocked at how soft Turge coached the team. How passive the practices were. How passive the pickup games were….
Again , i could be wrong, but that to me is the issue with this team. They appear to me to be a soft team that feels they could play pretty hard and win. This is big boy basketball. You have to fight for loose balls, fight thru picks, fight for rebounds……….After the game Fatts walked into a NW player. It’s the second time (AFTER A GAME this year) , Terps have acted like they want to fight. What a fucking joke.
If Mussleman came in here , the culture shock would cause a MASS transfer. . . . . . . and that would be fine with me.
Again guys, the hardest fighting Terps are the guys who are playing for Turge for the first time this season.
even Fatts plays with great D intensity that HH, Eric or Donta.
Dear God did Mark need to be fired.
I’m sorry. I really rooted for him….but WOW , we needed change.
So guys i don’t see it as pieces fitting as much as just guys playing at a level of intensity of a 8 or 9 instead of a 10.

Fed i'm just sick
There may be a lot of hindsight BS here, but i for one will say i thought this was the make or break season for Mark……..but i though he had assembled so much talent that a great regular season was a given.
My main concern was how Mark’s teams always tailed off to conclude seasons and often where just out fought in tournament games.
We all , also knew Fatts might go bust at this level……but he hasn’t been THE issue (IMOP). I’d say it’s pretty team wide, with Ayala the 4 year Terps’ play the most crippling. Thou Fatts and others aren’t far behind.
If yesterday was any indication , it appears teh well is just poisoned.
This season won’t be bearable. . . . . . but as u note, perhaps April will bring in a coach we can all be happy with.
Wr all knew it, but when Mark was hired it was a HOPE, it wasn’t a given. WHat had mark proven as a coach?
I don’t know if 57 is to old, but to me Musselman is the guy i give the keys to the bank vault.
A guy like Manning, Dixon or Blake are HOPES. Musselman you know will win. Hell, you know Miller would win. . . . . . This university has to stop pussy footing around. Our football and Basketball teams have been between embarrassing more than not for 20 YEARS.

55, you tell me, is Reese not going to be in the NBA in 2 years?
Were not Eric and Donta talking about as potential all B10 players going into this year?
Wahab was one of the very top transfers……..THE best player in the Big East tournament?
Jesus, guys have been going out of their mind on Ian Martinez (NBA Mock draft) and he isn’t a top 8 guy on our team.
55 we differ……………..of course they arent’ playing to those abilities (coaches job) but everything i said and have said is just true.
I’m jsut sick of doing all the leg work.
I’d hope all the fans here are aware of how sought after these kids were as recruits / transfers…and now we have one of the SR most teams in the nation.
I like Mark, but he just did a lousy job coaching up this team. My God if we can’t agree on that, let’s just quit now
Comment 1 reply
i think this place will be dead for the next few months.........i 'm sure you aren't the only one annoyed with my opinion
I do wish guys would address and counter my opinions instead of
"What are you talking about"
Or the vague concept that all bench players play hard, or have to play hard……when that is very simply not true. Right?
We can both name bench player after bench player who doesnt’ give ideal effort,,,,right?
Hell that is why Ricky didn’t play as well as a soph.
Well like i said 55,,,,,,probably best for everyone if i dial back a bit.
People are pissed. I know i am………i want to have conversations. But i’d guess the current Terps basketball emotion is at breaking point. So civil conversation will be more infrequrent……..b well
Fed , i agree H played well.
But so much of HH’s success depends on circumstance.
Where as Fatts, Donta and Eric are dictating thier ‘circumstance’………………to the failure of the team and thier future prospects, but by God those other upperclassmen are driving into mistakes, making shooting mistakes and about 4 times on the break Eric Ayala played some of the worst Defense that you will ever see a college player preform.
My point, HH is a guy who is figuring out where holes are on the court, and he is doing a good job moving…….but we’d agree, if a team shows any concentration whatso ever at all on stopping guys like Dock or HH, teams will.
Still i agree with you Fed, , if you don’ tlike how HH played yesterday you aren’t paying atttention……
Such a strange situation, we have 8 guys who could be playing real high level pro ball in 2 years and HH won’t even play for a good Euro league.. . . . .and he is our best player.
Fucking Mess guys.
So sorry this season is already done.
Just hurry up and wait for the new coach
lol.....yea , you want Hart to make his first shot, you want Eric to make ANY shot... & i'm not sure we want Fatts to make his first big 3. lol
Oh, Fed, leave no doubt i think we will finish among the bottom of the B10.
I felt going into this eason we have E 8 talent……Perhaps i just can’t admit how wrong i am, but i still think Eric, Donta, Ian, Reese and Fatts will all get NBA try outs.
And guys like Donta and Eric were always gonna be better college players than NBA prospects.
I think if you have that much talent AND your Center just was THE best player in the Big EAst tournament, i think talent isn’t the main issue. I think historically under mark his upper classmen play with LESS effort. I think he coaches them not to foul and as a result he had upperclassmen who should have been leading the EFFORT brigade end up being bad examples for the younger guys. Both Melo and Ant rebounded less in their last season.
Now with Eric and Donta struggling with shoothing, they don’t have elite Effort / D / Rebounding to fall back on to help their on court Ego.
And without confidence no player is gonna make shots.
The NON PASS that Fatts didn’t throw to HH was scary bad……this team could turn upside down with each kid looking to shoot more than win.
As poor as i thought Fatts played, it wasn’t like DS and Eric were playing better. But my GOD , your point guard HAS to make that pass to Hakeem. HE has to.
He wasn't getting thru to the team......but than he didn't get to his teams throughout his time here.
If in 2 years Mark is at a school like Loyal of Maryland he’ll do a very good job.
But i’d guess his ego will drive him to a job , well like Northwestern. And at a school like that, a non basketball school in a good conference, Turgeon will be fired within 5 years. . . . . He just has never shown himself to be an above average coach.
To his credit, he said so himself 2 years back in an interview.
Tough time to be coach Brady. He is a Shot docter coaching a team that is a lousy shooting team………and it’s not like he created Wiggins, or evolved kids like Eric.
I think Brady is the one guy in all this that has proven at points in his career, he truly is a great coach. But the circumstances aren’t tumbling his way.
His future will be of interest.
Wow i was wrong about Smart wasn’t i?
Really thought Aquan was going to be a star at his next stop. He is playing 15 minutes a game and doing little………Might be a good time to remember it took Roddy Peters a few colleges and a few years to figure out you have to do more than smoke that weed, chase girls and play video games to get the best out of your abilities.
Remember Peters was in the NBA G league…..i’d guess Roddy was a better NBA prospects at times over the last 3 years than Melo.

Thanks CP 6
JG tweeted something yesterday that makes ya think he has recommitted to leaving even with the new coach…..but i’d say it’s an open question.
So you are high on Ian , huh?
I agree his play has been maddening often. i must remind myself a few times a game that Ian is just trying to hard, so i try to take his TO’s and fouls in stride.
Also i appreciate that he is very much an elite talent. . . . . so he may not show it this year, he may not show it next, but sooner or later we will look back and say; "Damn why didn’t he do THAT while he played for Maryland !!??".
Ian will either play 10 minutes tomorrow or 30…..I’m betting against anything in-between! lol. I think Manning is coming into this situation with some set ideas like any of us would.
I will be shocked if HAkeem ever plays more than 32 minutes in a MD game for the rest of his career.
But the real shocker could be Eric Ayala.
I think his play this season has been below a standard that a new coach would say, "Yea, Eric needs to play 30 minutes".
We have brutally underachieved in these 8 games. Eric is the main reason.
He is lousy on D, and his shooting (really his only above average skill) has been abysmal.
35 % FG (his 11-34 shooting in the Hof & GM games nearly resulted in a shocking back to back losses) ………28.6 3 pt %…………even 64 % FT (missing 3 in the Louisville game).
I could be wrong, but it seems like he left that NBA experience with an odd misplaced confidence; instead of learning his only path to the league is better effort, far more of a dialed in D effort and a more complete game that is driven with the sole goal of helping his team win , he just seems to throw shots at the hoop and time and again drives into 3 defenders without an escape plan.
When Ian or Reese make those type of young men blunders we understand. When a SR does it, we have to assume either he wasn’t coached correctly or the kid has some issues all by himself.
Perhaps we’ll see in the coming days.

one more thing
I was wondering if you guys agree with me …………i felt like Mark’s close wins this season spoke poorly of him and his coaching.
I also felt even his NCAA wins were never games to be proud. To think, yea we beat Uconn and now we are gonna continue to play well. Heck after that UConn game i think we all knew they were gonna lose to Bama. And damn if they showed up agasint Bama with the same BS effort that should have/ could have cost them the UConn game.
I just hope Manning gets these kids to find the ultimate effort , each of us has within us.
That is what a great coach does……it was never something you got from Mark.
Serrell played real hard….
Lindo and Bender for a year…..
Darryl , but DM had so many coachable flaws to his game, i certainly don’t think Mark will have DM at the top of his resume………Thou S. Smart very well may!
Comment 1 reply
Fed we have done a great job in our civil disagreements of late........thanks
But if you say Fatts is coming off the bench one more time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We do differ on Fatts.
I wasn’t shocked when Ricky transferred or Chol wasn’t in the NBA in 2021. But i will be VERY surprised if i’m wrong about Fatts.
He has flaws, but i’m pretty sure he is one of our top players.
Comment 1 reply
bad sign, we agree
I always thought Mark was so quick to adjust to teams. Teams that should have been adjusting to us.
For me, when Mark played Q 16 minutes in the George Mason loss, i had the feeling Mark was just to close to the team to see it.
We saw it first with him playing Mona, Mona is not a Big Ten player. But Mark let his hard headed approach get the better of him and in the end the team.
Wahab was the best player in the Big East Tournament 5 months ago and under Mark’s leadership he isn’t good enough to play in the Atlantic 10!?
I truly feel bad for Mark. But he never did enough to earn the job in the first place and once he had it he never grew.
He was always stoic with the media and the fans & thou i pushed my narrative a bit different in years past, the truth is, kids didn’t improve as much as they do under other coaches.
This team is a great example of where kids played better for other coaches.
Look at Ian. It’s not a huge sample size but in the same minutes he is playing a bit under what he gave Utah, but what is damning is that he is doing that against an Atlantic 10 Schedule and after the (Soph) off season where most kids improve (See Dockery)..
Q has shown Zero improvement after 6 months of coaching.
Fatts has fallen off as well.
I think Manning has proven he is NOT a coach that we should even consider. But i would not be one bit surprised if this team went on to the Elite 8 or whatever. They very well could play with a new freedom, and as i have said from jump, this team has a lot of talent. . . . . especially once Reese and Ian start playing more than Hakeem. . . . .
I think you guys are wrong about Fatts.
Perhaps Donta is our best player. I don’t think that is the case, his frequent mind bombs on D leave me puzzled. But lets’ say his Rebounding 7.4 is enough to give him the edge on Russell.
But if Fatts isn’t our best player, he surely is our second best. If Manning can coach at all, Reese will be our best player come March and Ian’s game is going to catch fire at some point and become one of our better players as well. Will that happen this year? We have a new hope with the new coach stepping in.
Interesting becasue Manning knows Fatts and Q and Reese as well as he knows Ayala , Donta and Hakeem.
The minute allocation will be different. How different? and who plays more/less is unsure. But i’d like the first one to be wrong and tell you how it will play out.
Reese and Ian are going to start to play as much as i have been screaming for.
Hart will see a big (15) minute dip.
And it’s a reach, but if eric doesnt’ shoot better (and i’m certainly not sure he will) , i think Ayala will go from an All B10 canidate to a guy who is playing 8 , 10 minutes LESS than he did the year before.
Comment 2 replies, 1 rec
obviously he didn't quit.................he was asked to leave
i’m glad he did….
i’m upset Manning got the nod and not Brady…..but at least things are going to be fresh.
had offers from
………the kid is talented.
Sad it just kinda blew up in our faces.
We all know you can look at recruting in a few ways, but Pavlo was seen by some as a superior recruit to Graham. . . . . so you think he is happy?
We are at a low point with our terps and Turgeon.
If we were 7-1 i think kids like Dock and Pav would be fine not playing perhaps. I can not imagine these kids , who coaches begged to come play for, are now content to never leave the bench for a team that is
JG is obviously talented, he was a top 100 (ish) recruit. So i thought he might come back with a fire………….Since no one is giving me any credit (LOL), i feel i must go on and repeat, i didn’t like JG’s clips. They showed me a lack of a few things, character being one.
So when he didn’t come back and fight, i was not surprised in the least.
But Pav is the same deal. And Dock isn’t far behind. WHY should any of these kids sit on the bench for a team that is losing to teams that would LOVE to have them?
Other than Simon , i’d guess Each terp would start for GM……….and if Dock didn’t get major run for V Tech i’d be surprised.
I’d also guess Pav could get a scholarship to nearly 98 % of the schools in the nation for next season.
BUT , Pav’s clips also showed a lack of physcial aggression. That is what would get him on the court and it’s what he lacks……he also isn’t close to the physical talent that Reese is…….
Won’t our front court be Q and Reese for 55 minutes next season? Pav would be fighting with a mystery transfer for those 25 minutes. Is that what he wants his future to look like? And this is assuming Donta leaves, which he clearly shouldn’t, if the NBA is a goal.
So as i have said for weeks now, if Pav would just play with an elite effort , i have to assume he would play.
My God, Ian and Reese are off the rails often while playing, Hart is rarely noticed while on the court and we are losing to any and all comers.
How is Dock worse than what we are getting from Eric?
Guys we agree on everything but the "fatts isn't a good defender" angle.
He certainly has been scored on. No denying that.
We all agree, he must shoot better , finish better and get better results form his passing game.
We shall see.
As i see it, our season rest in Fatts’ play.
Comment 1 rec
He ended up playing a bit more than McHale predicted, but not much more...............
Good luck to the kid…..but remember this is a young man who said he would consider being a 1 and done.
He should benefit from realizing he really needs to put in a lot more work to help a college team. . . . . but i’m not sure that is how he is gonna see this situation.
