Sure, we all have fantasies about dating a supermodel, but have you ever thought about what the actual odds of that happening are? Well, the folks behind a fascinating publication called Book of Odds have, and let's just say it's a long shot. According to the website Stars-Portraits.com there are 320 supermodels working today. Now there are about 116 million men age 15 or older in the U.S., about half of whom are single. OK, those are not good odds, but let's break it down further. Chances are if you live out in the boonies you have no shot of meeting - let alone dating - a supermodel. So if you moved to the fashion capitals of New York or Los Angeles presumably you'll have a better chance. Between those two cities there are 2 million single men over 15 years old, so just by moving you've improved your odds greatly. It also helps to be successful. Nationally 1 in 15 men who live alone make at least $100,000 a year. So if you live in New York or L.A. and make at least $100 grand your odds of dating a supermodel go up to around one in 150. Sure, that's still a long shot, but it's a lot better than when we started. It also helps, presumably, to be tall, given the height of your average supermodel, if there is such a thing. About 20 percent of American men are at least six feet tall, so you have now lowered your odds to 1 in 34 if you are tall, wealthy, and live in NYC or LA. And finally, it's got to help to be good looking. If you're among the top 20 percent of men in a room, you'll probably have a better shot a bagging a supermodel. So, putting it all together, all you need to be is tall, attractive, wealthy, and live in New York or L.A. and you might have a reasonable chance. Or you could just be Tom Brady.
