Born in 1936, I grew up on the historic Grant-Kohrs Ranch at Deer Lodge, MT. Competed in 4-H rodeo in high school, mainly women's barrel racing. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, when I was in my early thirties and working as a Reader's Digest editor, I was involved in women's marathoning and the fight to change the AAU rules for women's distance. When I began to publish novels in 1971, sports were a thread through much of my fiction, notably my novel "The Front Runner." For many years I've written about LGBT sports history for Outsports.com, and published a collection of these pieces as a nonfic anthology titled "The Lavender Locker Room." Today I live in southern California and own my own publishing company, Wildcat Press.
