Few thoughts
- Connor refers to Anders as Supercharged Scott Holtzman and not "Extra-Hot Sauce" Holtzman? for shame.
- I favour Dodson over Munhoz but I have a nagging suspicion ever since his weird loss to Easton years ago that he has no ability to handle leg kicks beyond a power left hand counter, and it’s possible to just lull him into waiting for that counter forever. particularly if the other person proves they can just eat it, as Munhoz might be able to. Even though Moraes didn’t throw that much, I think the threat of the kick kept Dodson tentative.
- I think of Brunson as a "tactile fighter" much like Connor’s (excellent) read on Tony Ferguson. But whereas Ferguson needs to touch to read the distance but then understands it very well from that point on, I think that Brunson simply can’t (or hates to) read distance in neutral space at all, ever. Almost all his KOs or significant moments have come when he’s had hands on people. He holds in place and punches, or at least has one hand on the opponent before he punches with the other. Even Machida was on a small combination into break where Brunson had his right hand touching as he swung with the left. If you think of him as a terribly dangerous blind man he makes a lot more sense. basically the Zatoichi of the UFC:

I think the Diaz bros' guard game is a little overrated in the modern UFC
Bendo struggled with Pettis scrambling on the ground (and got tapped in the second fight), but effortlessly beat the shit out of Nate over 25 minutes. Partially I suspect it’s just because the Diazes are kind of older and less flexible than they were. The defensive wrestling and physical strength has improved, but neither one has won a fight off his back for a minute.
For Eddie vs Diaz, the problems in the anti-Pettis gameplan would less be in the offensive guard, and more that Nate is much bigger and far less devoid of offense in the clinch. Pettis (like JDS) is particularly vulnerable to takedowns not because he’s bad at defending them, but because he throws little to no offense in the clinch, so unless you dive into a submission, clinch TDs are basically "free" and only cost time once the distance is closed. The same is not true of Nate: knees, dirty boxing, his own takedowns etc. Eddie wouldn’t get as much free time to run takedown attempts against the cage.
