QBs don’t make the catches, kicks, and tackles. Early games were lost by the same old same old. Drops and horrible O-line play. Didn’t matter who was back there
Also agree that the MSU game was closer that the score showed. We were right there until running out of gas in the 4th
TVD is doing great … enjoy the ride!

is some next level truth at the end.
Excellent as always, thanks for helping those of us with little "tactical knowledge" of the game.
So here’s my question (which I realize is not that important in light of recent events): Whats up with our DBs? I thought we hired some hotshot … get them ready for the NFL … nicknamed coach. T-Bob. Dude. It was clip after clip of lost DBs standing around. I mean … what the actual fuck?
I know and get that this is all coaching and on Manny. BUT… isn’t it the position coach who would be responsible for explaining and teaching the concepts to that group? I mean … how can guys just be standing in a patch of grass, even in zone, on that play at that time?
…looks like in the end you can say all the right things … you still need to KNOW how to coach and explain what you are trying to have the players do. They don’t understand the WHY.
If I’m a player today … why am I not feeling positive? There are all of these expectations about mass departures but the kids see what is going on … shouldn’t they be looking at this upcoming change as a net + for them and their careers. They see the locker room and understand (I hope) that a better fundamental and well coached team is a benefit for the team and their personal brand. They might like Manny and sure do play hard for him, but aren’t they also learning right now that playing hard is not enough … they have to play smart … and apparently no one is teaching them.
What a glorious Tuesday....
Hope springs eternal. Lets cheer on our boys through the last two games of the season and hopefully a bowl game and another win. to finish 8-5.
….wish Manny all the best
…. and plan for the future.
I think the firing of James was the best path the U could have taken. We have clearly messaged that change is coming to current players and recruits while letting Manny finish out the season … now comes the fun part, who will we get as AD and Coach.
For the AD …. I think we need someone who has ties to former players …. because he/she is going to have to go get some $$$$$ to upgrade our facilities. The indoor practice facility was a good start but we need some more upgrades to match up with our competition.
For a coach…. Need someone who believes in himself and has experience as a HC. Thats what I didn’t see in Manny. He was too soft on the kids because he didn’t believe in himself of what he was selling. I like Manny but he always seemed like he was trying to sell something instead of trying to build something. I don’t think we have the juice to get the names people are throwing out. Miami is just not that school at this time.
I’d love someone with Mid-west / Texas connections to tap into some O-line/D-line territory. Like the Iowa St coach, Ok St coach (we have had some success with this before), Maybe Dykes? I also like the App St coach. I do like the Kentucky coach but is a move to Miami from an SEC school, even a bad one, a career forward decision …. IDK?
Who are we looking at …. Mario, Lane, and the Cinci guy ain’t coming.
Garcia can move better
…. he has a little more juice in his legs than TVD. But also a good arm from what we saw
Thank you Lord!
Never thought they’d pull the trigger.
New guy gets to pick the new coach.

God I wish I could REC this 1,0000 times
I hear Saban is really looking for a challenge and likes the idea of a stadium an hour away from a small private school.
No one is leaving Oregon for UM
No one is leaving an SEC school for UM
No one is leaving a team about to join and dominate the Big 12 just to hopefully be competitive in the Coastal.
Y’all want to run people out of town … OK. And I’m not saying I disagree with you. But if Manny goes I think/hope Blake goes as well.
Who will be the search committee? Who will we pick. I have mine … Love the UTSA coach
but honestly, thats the level of coach we are going to get. Kiffin, Mario, and the others won’t even give us a second look unless they are using us to juice a contract from a team they actually want to join.

Jeff Traynor from UTSA
Dude is a stud. Has won championships as a HS coach in Texas.
Has done great things building UTSA up into a good team with poor players.
Will have connections and a pipeline for recruiting big O-line from Texas. Just listen to one of his interview from the Rome show and tell me we shouldn’t do an all out press to get this guy.
That said … UTSA extended him in October through 2031 … not sure how that part of the BIZ works.

Wins and good QB play sure hides a lot...
I was in the same boat. Feeling good on our run.
But in the end NC State beat themselves as much as we beat them. They out Miamied us with drops and penalties.
Pitt was a good game. We played OK and squeaked one out
GT … a bad team that we almost lost to.
In the end … this is what is amazing about football and why it is so hard is that just one play makes all the difference.
A donk against Vir, a crazy bounce off a helmet while driving deep against UNC, A stop on 4th and 14 …. and we are 8-2. Of course a few bounces the other way and we are 2-8. Football is crazy.

You make really good points
I totally agree with your position on Manny clapping during that first drive where we had …. I don’t even know …. at least 5 penalties? Manny is a "players coach" but I would agree we need someone with a little more bite. Fear is a good motivator …. and having the kids afraid of you isn’t the worst thing in the world.
…that said. Coker, Jimmy, and Howard were all "player’s coaches" … even Butch to a lesser degree.
If there has been ONE thing I’ve wanted at Miami after watching them and cheering for them for the past 40 years … a stable coach. I feel that has been one of our Achilles Heels. Either they bail to get destroyed in the NFL, or we get rid of them after a few years and have to hit reboot.
Has Manny’s time come to an end. I think so. I said it at the end of last season … I hated the idea of Manny running the D as the DC. If you are an inexperienced HC you need to focus on learning how to be a HC …. not spending your time crafting the D. This has come back to bite him in the ass. At the end of the day … the defense is going to get him fired. Who ever is the DC on this years team has clearly done a poor job on many fronts …. heavy is the head that wears the crown.
The only problem I have is blaming Manny for things that are systemic to our program from the earliest of days including several that you mentioned:
- Undisciplined Play and Penalties – Man I remember so many games in our glory days where we had 10+ penalties. The difference, we had the horses to overcome our own stupidity. We ALWAYS play stupid. We ALWAYS make a lot of penalties. That is just part of who we are.
I’m hoping that we get rid of James and take our time making a smart coaching choice. Stability at the HC position is something that we have never had and something that could help transform this program and bring it back to relevance.
Who’s my pick? I LOVE the guy from UTSA. Heard him a couple of times on the Rome show and he is amazing. Famous Texas high school coach who won championships and now is doing a great job at a very mehhhhhh program. I’d love to grab someone from the mid west so we can tie in their connections and grab some corn fed big boys from Texas and build up our lines, especially O-line.
QUESTION FOR ANYONE: Has there ever been a time a new HC came in kept the OC? I feel Lashlee is starting to get a feel for things and really getting this offense firing on all cylinders.

TVD sure would be a lure for me if I was a coach.
….Sorry guys …. and I say this as a Hurricane fan who has watched and cheered on my boys since ’84 (had my first beer with my dad watching a game).
We don’t have the juice to get a Kiffin or the guy from Cinci.
But I must say that TVD might be our ace in the hole. Who wouldn’t want to come into a situation with a legitimate star QB who is only a freshman. That and the young WR, Rooster, Arroyo …. offense looking good.
Here is a question …. Lashlee? Don’t know anything about his experience but he is getting a feel for running our offense and TVD. I know we were nervous he’d bounce after last year for a HC gig. Would/Could he be in the mix.
I must say I’m worried about who we will get as much as I’m worried about who we have. PLEASE FIRE JAMES FIRST!
If we follow that pattern I don’t quite see how we see who is really out there. No one will let us talk to their HC in November in the middle of a season. There is no way that we can lock down anyone other than someone already fired or out of coaching this year. Am I right on this? This is really not my wheelhouse but seems like just about everyone needs to wait until the end of the season to see who is going to be available and get permission to talk to others who are still under contract.
… to me that sounds like we’d just be hiring some retread of someone sitting by the phone and hoping for a job.
Was hoping for something better. People keep talking about Fickle and others …. but those schools won’t let him talk to us now would they?
Totally agree with you there. Let them in ....
time was more important and there was no way we were stopping FSU 4 straight times ….

I get that Jim
I guess this in the middle of the season stuff is just not my cup of tea.
I HATE that kids bail on the team in the middle of the year to jump into the portal and I’m equally put off by the can the coach in the middle of the year. Only reason for those sort of actions is if the wheels are coming off. I don’t see the wheels coming off here. Talking about Clemson beatdowns or Eddy O sort of stuff …. outside of that … let the season play out and then adjust in the offseason.
I see that we are what we are. A young, dumb, football team with an inexperienced coach. We have potential … and honestly I liked some of the gutsy calls Manny made today … those are tough calls and credit to where credit is due.
Are we really getting a jump on other programs if we dump Manny tomorrow? Is USC is some sort of better position in its search for a new HC than LSU … then TCU …. then us? Really, we are going to lose our next great white (or black or brown) hope because we didn’t have the NOW HIRING sign in our front window? IDK….just tired of all the whining.
The kids are playing hard …. playing up and down to competition just like we have for …. the past 30 years. Enjoy the last few games. Hope for a fun bowl match-up … Would love to see FLA. …. and a win in a bowl game for a change. Then lets deal with what needs to be done.
Without a new AD …. there is no reason to switch coach. No HC worth his salt will want to take this position with James as his boss.

Over-reaction Sunday huh????
I always need to remind myself that fans are short for fanatics and logic is rarely a pre-requisite.
Heartbreaking game in so many ways.
The penalties were just unacceptable. Over and over and over again. I did feel that their stud DL 11 got TVD with a face mask or hands to the face at least once.
BUT enough with this BS fire the coach after every loss. Even a loss to Free Shoes. Manny did enough to finish out the year …. at that point I’m all about listening to who we could actually get and making a SMART as opposed to a EMOTIONAL decision. AND …. don’t sell me any shit about Cristobol. He’s not coming. Oregon has better facilities, better players, better reputation, better alumni, and plays in a better conference. YOU ARE NOT GETTING MARIO. So who can we get …. ????
Manny has done everything that we/you have wanted him to do. Start the young guys? OK … I’m pretty sure it was one of the two freshman safeties who should have been in the middle of the field on 4th and 14. That is what you are going to get when you play young studs …. young mistakes.
Funny how one play changes everything. We stop that 4th and 14 and this is all about a great comeback AT Dookie and Manny’s MAN calls of going on 4th and getting it several times. We miss that one play … and lose the game … and start calling for the banner to fly again over Hard Rock.
I will say … Patke …. you HAVE to down that ball inside the 5 on the last punt. They all watched the catcher instead of finding the ball and guarding the end zone … but no …. let them start at the 20.
I will say this …. STFU about FSU being a 3 whatever team. This is MIAMI/FSU. Throw the records out … its a war … if you don’t get that you don’t get Miami. It was a war like it always is. If it was easy it wouldn’t be this game. We were close with them when they were in the Natty biz and we were trying to just get to a bowl.
Get healthy, Get Bowl Eligible … finish the season strong and get to a BOWL game and actually WIN it. Only chance for Manny … and even then …
Wishing nothing for the four quitters
Wiggins, Pope, Jennings, and Hall …. its called a team. You commit to playing with your brothers. Not playing with the team as long as you get what you want. Its not about YOU … its about TEAM.
I wish Kosi luck. I wished Cager luck, I wish Williams luck …. but these guys? Nah
These guys showed that they are poor team guys as well as poor players. I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. They should be keeping their mouths shut and working their ass off to try and get some tape for their next team. They should be pushing the starters and making them better. They should be supporting and studying and knowing that … at least for the defensive players …. they are still getting snaps and one injury away from being a starting player.
Weak ass shit.
Have we dropped them from their scholarships? If they quit are they still going to class? Earning credit? In my mind they need to be excused from any U facility and service. Drop them from classes, move them out of campus housing … and throw them a handful of change for busfare. You want to bail out on your team and your teammates in the middle of a season we OWE you NOTHING
Comment 1 rec
does not matter the skill of the player or his potential. If he is a quitter he is a quitter. Give me a grinder over a lazy skilled player any day. Hell, thats why all four are where they are … they didn’t put the time and effort into their craft and got passed up by those who worked harder.
Football is still about team
I get that the portal is a new opportunity. I get that NIL has changed the landscape. But football is still a team sport and you commit and support your team during the season. Those were my expectations from teams I coached as a soccer and volleyball coach at the high school level. I damn sure have the same expectations for scholarship student athletes who are privileged to be offered the opportunity to wear the orange and green.
Just Beat FSU
Nothing else matters
Not Manny and his job
Not any damn thing ….. except beating the hell out of that backpack.
We can get back to all the debating and thinking and planning and all after this week.
This week is to build the hate, build the passion, build the anger …. and drop that freaking hammer all over the noles at their home.
LETS GO CANES
