Been discussed a lot here, but looking at Bench for next year
we only have 8 players who are owed guaranteed money, we got about 33 million in cap space if we let Baynes and Saric walk and cut carter, diallo and okobo (which I think is pretty likely anyways)
Few interesting names other there still to fill the bench with (and I’m not predicating any of these happening, just playing armchair GM)
Think my fav is seeing if I could get Dragic back as my backup PG (a role he’s accepted in Miami), but that’s wishful thinking land
still some vets like Teague, Yogi, Dunn, Reggie Jackson…. all pretty clear upgrades over Okobo and Carter
also some good looking SG names for the bench, Malik Beasley, Valentine, hell flier on Alonzo Trier?
PF is thin still, Millsap is looking for a ring, Favours maybe on big cash, but maybe a questionable fit next to Ayton. Bobby Portis? Idk if I throw him the keys to a starting PF job. the Morii are available…… hahahahaha. Gallinari is about it, reckon he’ll get paid again.
but seriously Saric looks like a better option then a lot that’s on the table anyways, I wonder if Monty just commits to Bridges/ Oubre if we don’t upgrade the spot

couldn't have had a more "Suns" bench stat line
of 15 points on 5/14 from the field (11 on 3/8 from Cam alone)
Feel for monty a bit, it doesn’t matter what backup guard he goes to, they all stink
the bench is 26th in scoring with a -2.0 net rating (bottom 3rd)
You’d have to think with even a mediocre bench this season could have been better

I think you gotta keep running the starters out and try to win
even in the likely event we don’t make the playoffs, you need to evaluate the squad you got and the bench you got, esp with guys like Baynes and Saric off contract and Frank none guaranteed.
Plus the fans deserve to see competitive basketball for the rest of the season. If Ty or Cam can earn their playing time fine, but lets stop pretending that rookies seeing court time is the ONLY way they’ll develop….

I'm hoping the suns close out the season strong
But I’m worried we’ll just stay banged up and barely eek out a few more wins. I mean at least McD isn’t here anymore to actually gut the roster at the trade deadline and then sit healthy players to tank
but still another year another really banged up Suns team

I think we all wanna see the same thing this offseason
send some future picks out, roll the damn dice for once and try to get a trade done that gets some talent here

I mean I'm all aboard the smash Bobert "Squeaks" Sarver
But TJ got waived, not bought out, Tyler isn’t leaving any money on the table
And seriously look at how many players have been waived or bought out after the deadline? Who exactly was going to take Tyler’s contract without wanting compensation or the suns to take back longer term money?
Sarver only saves a small amount of coins if Tyler signs the vets min for another team for the rest of the year (which who knows, he might not get signed by anymore) and the deadline for signing for post season play in 1st of March

Unless it’s Phoenix
It’s all moot anyways
He ain’t coming back lol

I wrote a post some time back
That Was basically how if you would have drafted the "best player available" based on ESPNs draft ranking we would have been considerably better, it’s that sad

Island inhabitants or not
You really think he’s gonna come back to the Suns?
I wouldn’t even care if we throw an offer at him i just can’t see him saying yes lol

I think we need to view the G league
As his 1 year in college
Call him up next year as a 3rd stringer
Jones signed him to 4 years for a reason, he knows he’s gotta develop for a couple years before he can really start to feel him out, I’d really hate to do that Suns thing where we throw rookies into roles they aren’t ready for then scrub them after a year or 2 because we can’t win and it’s obviously their faults for not developing into all stars in 2 years
And not really exaggerating, I really think Lecque is going to take 3-4 years before you can run him out as a decent backup PG, but I also think he could be worth the wait and I’m happy to let him develop

Suns sign Bender to 10 day contract
Booker informs team he wishes for trade this offseason

Lecque playing in the G League
is meaningful minutes for that kid, he’s 2 years away from 2 years away

Dion Waiters would be interesting as well
Especially for all the players on those boring plane rides

Not really surprised by this
If Tyler had expressed to Jones his displeasure Jones would release him all day. It’s the ex player in Jones
Can’t imagine we fill the spot with anything that interesting, as much as IT would actually be interesting to fill in the backup PG role I can’t see Jones doing it. He’ll want more time to evaluate Okobo and Carter which sucks because I honestly can’t watch Okobo try and play basketball anymore, dude couldn’t even make 3rd string for his national team
Comment
He only missed 3 games because of it
He’s on track to play more games this season with Indy then any of the previous years with the Suns
It’s just been a theme for a number of years here, you start to question whether the medical staff is up to scratch compared to the rest of the league
Cuz we all know how much Sarver likes to spend money….

that's talk for
no one else wanted our scrubs without an unprotected 1st or KO

Listen I know a lot of suns fans wanted to make a trade
and it’s frustrating that we’ve lost a lot of winnable games this year
Sure we could get mad at Jones not "shoring" up the bench, but who were we supposed to go for that was really going to push us over the edge?
Really to me, it’s at what point do we SERIOUSLY look at the training staff and say wtf is going on. This team cannot stay and has not stayed healthy for years now. I mean seriously, Baynes, Cam, Jerome, Johnson, Saric and Frank all out. Not going to win a lot of games roling of Diallo, Carter and Okobo
Even look at the Kennard trade, sure would have liked him for the bench but that trade for the next 10 games, who the hell you even bring off the bench if Carter and Okobo go? Lecque and Owens and Diallo….. gonna lose a lot of games waiting for Kennard and others to come back
Doesn’t matter what roster Jones puts together if the training staff can’t keep the team on the damn court, funny how all a sudden TJ Warren isn’t injury prone anymore on the Pacers….

I was pretty shocked by this
Didn’t think rusty would get in this year
But on the glass half full side for once
Never seen this much media attention about Book being snubbed, the fact that the talking heads are talking about his snub is new.

I want to watch this game
but it’s getting really hard to watch Okobo out there anymore
