Visiting Scotland years ago, staying at a relative's house in Dunfermline, I heard the chanting of a crowd echoing in the distance. "What is that?" I asked. "There must be a football match today" was the answer. How could citizens of such a small town make such a ruckus? I'd always enjoyed soccer, but that sealed the deal. I studied Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (go Hawks!), though I must admit, having the beach ten minutes away influenced that decision. For the last five years I've worked in the world of non-profits as a grant writer and fundraiser. When the clock strikes 5, the kit comes on- I've been a Richmond Kickers and D.C. United supporter for years. Here's to another great season for the Reds.
